LettersAt3amPress is about writers publishing writers. It’s about getting stuff out there that mainstream and literati publishers might never touch – too different from the mainstream, too unruly for the literati, or, sometimes, too gently quiet and out-of-the-way for this rackety world.
For the authors of LettersAt3amPress, anyone who looks for one of us will find all of us – and learn that a book published with us is a book that is believed in.
Old-time publishing houses have merged into Hollywood-like publishing studios, geared to mass enthusiasms and short-term profits. The editors and agents who serve these studios are of a type; they are too alike, their collective experience is too narrow, and they are too in the thrall of money to foster a vibrant literature.
What would a vibrant literature look like? A literature that sees itself as an adventure in beauty and thought, voiced by storytellers who stake their lives on their vision. A literature that can speak across class. A literature that misbehaves and that can’t be trusted to tow the line of any worldview or doctrine.
We have published James BigBoy Medlin’ Slap Noir, Karen Holden's This Music, Joe Ely's Reverb, Rocco Lo Bosco's Ninety Nine, Chuck Rosenthal's The Legend of La Diosa, Peggy Aylsworth's Under the Unwed Moon and Ash Good's These Things Will Never Happen Quite Like That Again. We’re serious and we’re in it for the fun.
